The Opportunity

Our client, a major, growth oriented construction and power generation equipment dealer seeks a Power Systems Sales Consultant for its Power Systems Group operation.

The Position

•Located remotely in South Georgia.

•Reports directly to the Power Group Sales and Engineering Manager located in Atlanta

•Works as a TEAM, in cooperation with the Sales group, the Project Management group, manufacturing, engineering and third party vendors

•Is the face of the client company to contractors, end user customers and others in the sales channel

Roles and Responsibilities

•Manages customer relationships to achieve sales goals and executes sales plans within assigned sales territory and/or account

•Sells company products and services by maintaining existing customer base while developing new prospects and accounts. Product line offering includes:

  • Diesel and gas engine generator systems
  • Automatic transfer switches
  • Switchgear
  • Accessories
  • Services

•Achieves sales targets and ensures customer satisfaction

•Reviews specifications, develops proposals and estimates

•Develops and maintains relationships to generate customer goodwill and loyalty

•Conducts negotiations

•Identifies, researches, and contacts prospective customers and foster relationships for future sales and repeat business

•Focused on customer satisfaction

•Is highly knowledgeable regarding product, competitive, industry knowledge including technical information, Industry Associations/Agencies, codes, applicable Federal, State and Local laws/codes

•Travel throughout and beyond the territory including the factory, packager/assembler, various product manufacturer's, other dealers, meetings, technical events

•Works flexible hours including weekends, holidays and nights as required by workload and customer need

Skills and Qualifications

•BSEE or BSME preferred

•Broad mechanical and/or electrical background with an extensive knowledge in the application and installation of diesel & gaseous engine generator sets, transfer switches, paralleling switchgear, and supporting equipment

•5+ years of technical experience in the sales and/or application of diesel & gaseous engines, generator sets, or related systems

•Sales and negotiation skills

•Basic to intermediate technical knowledge required to perform job successfully

•Strong work ethic and high sense of motivation.

•Excellent organizational, written, verbal, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

•Customer Service Focus with experience in customer problem resolution.

•Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with working knowledge of PC based computer software programs.

•High energy level, excellent organizational, time management and negotiating skills.

•Self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

•5 to 10 years of direct customer contact experience.

•Extensive working knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment and power generation systems ideally along with in-depth knowledge of the Caterpillar product line and competitive awareness.

•Comfortable speaking to and developing presentations for groups of people

•Skilled in the Microsoft suite of business software

•A team player, cooperative, collaborative, willing and able to work easily and synergistically with others

•Strong human relations skills and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally and ability to resolve business issues

•Public speaking and presentation development skills. Ability to effectively address large groups

•Ability to resolve business issues
